2SLGBTQ+ Public Consultation Held in Ottawa

Over 150 individuals attend the first of its kind event in over 20 years

Wisdom2Action, in partnership with seven Ottawa 2SLGBTQ+ organizations and the City of Ottawa, held a public consultation at Ottawa City Hall on Monday, January 13th. The event was open to all members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, representatives of 2SLGBTQ+ health and social service organizations, key stakeholders and allies.

Despite the weather, the consultation was attended by over 150 people. Representatives from co-hosting 2SLGBTQ+ local organizations were present and included Capital Pride, Capital Rainbow Refuge, Kind Space, Ottawa Senior Pride Network, SAEFTY, Ten Oaks, and MAX Ottawa.

The City of Ottawa’s Community and Social Services has hired Wisdom2Action to lead the consultation process and generate a report with publicly informed recommendations. The ideas and concepts developed from the evening’s consultation was an important pathway to gather those recommendations. It also brought together a broad and diverse group of folks to share experiences and establish priorities.

Besides this public event, Wisdom2Action has also held key stakeholder interviews, and have launched an online survey. All 2SLGBTQ+ community members, service providers and other stakeholders are encouraged to complete the survey. Le sondage est également disponible en français.
