HIV Nondisclosure & the Law
This presentation will offer you an overview of the law as it pertains to HIV nondisclosure. We will go over some of the key demographics and harmful consequences of criminalizing HIV nondisclosure as well as different scenarios that do or do not constitute grounds for criminalization according to the law as it currently stands. We will also review some of the important work that is being done in Canada to change the law and how you can get involved.
Guest speaker: Katarina Bogosavljevic (She/Her) is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Criminology at the University of Ottawa. Her project explores the emotions and feelings of experiencing HIV nondisclosure from a sexual partner and how these shape decisions to report or not report partners to the police. She grew up in Vancouver and moved to Ottawa in 2016 for graduate school. You can catch her along the canal riding her bike or at home snuggled up beside her cat and a good movie.
