SUMMARY:Scenes and Zines: an Ottawa Dyke March Fundraising Event
DESCRIPTION:Scenes and Zines is half-zine workshop hosted by disability justice activist and researcher Megan Linton\, and half-film screening of the first film directed by a Black Lesbian woman\, the Watermelon Woman. \n\n\n\nThe Ottawa Dyke March is hosting this COVID-conscious\, masked\, 18+ event to fundraise for our upcoming March\, Rally and Community Gathering on August 23rd. The event is 18+ due to the mature scene content of the film. \n\n\n\nThe Ottawa Dyke March is a volunteer-based\, grassroots organization that aims to create spaces accepting and celebratory of dykes\, our friends\, families and allies\, and other members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. \n\n\n\nThe proceeds of this fundraiser will go directly to support Dyke March programming\, which features a line-up of BIPOC and dyke-aligned artists\, speakers and hosts\, any technical or accessibility needs\, ASL and LSQ requirements\, tables for vending\, chairs for accessibility accommodation. \n\n\n\nOur fundraiser event will take place at Kind Space\, and we are providing materials for crafting; zine-making\, collaborative art in tandem with the zine workshop\, banner decoration and sign-making for our march. \n\n\n\nWe are working to provide accessible snacks to accommodate allergy and food restrictions (ex: gluten-friendly and vegan options). \n\n\n\nThe event will also feature a solidarity station for folks to engage with\, such as book donations and future volunteer info. \n\n\n\nThere will also be an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for our upcoming raffle\, with prizes donated by local businesses and orgs such as Venus Envy\, Black Squirrel Bookstore\, Aimé Music Festival as well as artwork submitted by several local queer artists.
