DESCRIPTION:Join us a beginner-friendly bikepacking trip! \n\n\n\nThis trip is designed to be accessible for the bikepacking-curious among us. SUMMARY:August Queer Bikepacking Trip
DESCRIPTION:Route & Plan: Meet Saturday morning at 8am near Riverside South\, ride to the Merrickville Lockstation\, come back Sunday morning to mid afternoon. Estimated to be 110km round-trip\, and we will ride as a group at an easy pace (15-20km/h). \n\n\n\nTrip Highlights: Merrickville has many cute shops\, a beach\, and restaurants. We will have most of the afternoon and evening to explore them. \n\n\n\nWe will be riding on the road with cars\, on paved shoulders where possible but also with traffic on some country roads. There will be snack stops along the way but this will be a challenging trip.  \n\n\n\nBe prepared with lots of water\, snacks\, a spare tube for your bike\, and electrolytes. \n\n\n\nCost: $25 (1 night of camping\, Saturday dinner) \n\n\n\nSpots are limited to 25 people and will be closed once full. More information will be sent after sign up closes on August 1. \n\n\n\nBasic gear required: Bike\, camping gear (Tent\, sleeping pad\, sleeping bag)\, food ( Saturday Lunch\, Sunday breakfast and weekend snacks)\, a way to carry everything. DESCRIPTION:Hey folks! Come on out and join us for our first ever bike scavenger hunt! And bring your friends! This event is ally friendly and kid friendly (as long as kids under 18 are supervised by an adult). We will meet at the Naval Reserve Monument at Dow’s Lake at 6pm. \n\n\n\n❓What will this event look like? Teams (Minimum of 3 people\, maximum of 7) will be given a series of clues and challenges to do within a 1.5 hour time frame. Each team to finish and get to the mystery end point gets entered to win a prize! \n\n\n\n❓What if I don’t have a team? Show up a few minutes early\, organizers will try and help you join another team! \n\n\n\n❓Is this an intense scavenger hunt? No! It is meant to be a challenge but is meant to be fun\, and maybe a little competitive. 1.5 hours maximum to complete. Those who complete all the clues get entered into a draw to win a prize for their team. \n\n\n\nAs with all QBC events\, you must fill out a waiver to participate (link in instagram bio).

SUMMARY:QBC Level 2: Gatineau Park Trail 5 climb
DESCRIPTION:Meet: 6:45PM / Ride: 7:00PM \n\n\n\nSW corner of St. Luke’s Park (Elgin and Gladstone) \n\n\n\nEvery other Wednesday \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNew this year to QBC Ottawa\, we’re adding Level 2 Rides: longer and faster rides with minimal breaks. These rides are more focused on building fitness and endurance\, with a social time after the ride for those who’d like to join. Routes are longer and marginally more challenging and\, aside from a quick regroup after any particularly challenging segments\, will not have breaks. If you’re consistently averaging more than 20 km/h\, these rides could be a good fit for you. \n\n\n\nWe’re aiming for a steady 25 km/h on the roads\, with an overall ride speed average of a little over 20 km/h. Routes will vary from about 20km to 40km in length. We’re planning a mix of terrain (paths\, roads\, gravel). Routes will repeat throughout the season. In the event that you can’t hold the pace\, catch up when you get a second wind or self-drop and join us at the finish or another time.

Your ride home could be dark so please bring your charged bike lights (try the dollar store or bike shop). \n\n\n\nBring a chair\, or a blanket to sit on if you wish. \n\n\n\nAccessibility: \n\n\n\nThis route (13.6km Total) will be on bike paths \n\n\n\nWe will be crossing the canal at Hartwell Locks. There are two steps up to get onto the lock\, a narrow walkway with railings on both sides\, then two steps down. (Ride leaders can help lifting/moving bikes if needed\, just ask us!) \n\n\n\nThe ride will start and end at Bayview with a break at Vincent Massey Park \n\n\n\nAs always this is a no drop ride at a chill pace\, so no one gets left behind!
