SUMMARY:In Harmony Choir Rehearsal
DESCRIPTION:We are a non-audition choir! Members are required to be able to carry a tune and to sing in a treble vocal range (Soprano or Alto). We are a performance-focused choir; we expect singers to participate in at least one annual concert; members may also perform at extra performances/gigs throughout the season. \n\n\n\nOur rehearsals take place each Tuesday evenings; our main rehearsal time is 7:00 – 8:30pm. We meet at the Carleton Dominion Chalmers Centre (CDCC)\, which is fully accessible.  \n\n\n\nThe season runs from September to June\, with new members welcome up until December. \n\n\n\nIf you’d like to attend one of the rehearsals\, please email choraleinharmonychoir@gmail.com in advance to confirm your spot.

SUMMARY:Grief Gardening
DESCRIPTION:Queer Death Salon is a virtual community space for all 2SLGBTQIA+ people to come together to discuss death\, dying and grief. It is a facilitated drop-in discussion space\, with the purpose of building connection\, skill\, and resources for 2SLGBTQIA+ people navigating end of life in our personal lives and in our communities. \n\n\n\nIn times of grief\, many people find that a connection to land\, earth\, and the tending of life can help carry us through. It is well established that a connection to nature\, no matter how small\, helps improve our experiences of depression\, anxiety\, and sense of well-being. \n\n\n\nPulling from their their personal experiences\, Eli will lead participants in a discussion about; \n\n\n\n\nthe history of Grief Gardening through various cultural perspectives\n\n\n\ngardening as a tool for emotional processing and providing a sense of control and purpose\n\n\n\ncreating sites for remembrance\n\n\n\ntending to a relationship with nature to encourage a sense of hope and renewal\n\n\n\n\nHe will also support participants with ideas about how to get started or expand on our grief gardens. \n\n\n\nEli (they/he) is a gardener and former landscaper\, wetlands restorationist and wildlife biologist currently living on Ohlone land in Oakland. Mutual aid\, covid realism\, disability justice\, queerness and art as well as gardening all help them with the little and big sources of grief that life brings us.
