DESCRIPTION:Every month at Art House\, a new artist fills the walls of the Drawing Room with their best works for you to enjoy. This month is featuring Not The Death I Was Expecting by Toni van Eeden {PARTYGIRL}. Come meet them\, explore their works\, and learn about their history and inspiration while sipping on complimentary wine. \n\n\n\nARTIST BIO \n\n\n\nPARTYGIRL (Toni van Eeden) is a multi-disciplinary artist exploring themes of the hidden self\, grief\, and the sensory body. While art has always played an integral role in their work\, it wasn’t until 2019 when a devastating and progressive autoimmune condition began to effect their mobility\, cognitive functioning\, and lucidity\, that they would begin to make art as an imperative. To retrieve the messages left on their nervous system and translate them into sensory poetry through various mediums. Their shows and exhibitions are intentionally designed as containers for retrieving hidden messages\, collective grieving\, and the aftercare required to go a little deeper. \n\n\n\nThis visual art exhibition and the companion zine (available through Art House during the vernissage on November 14 7-10pm) both titled “Not The Death I Was Expecting” is the story of their drowning and how it saved their life. This exhibition represents volumes I-III of the story which will continue to unfold through a series of zines over the course of the next ten years.

SUMMARY:Naked Boys Reading: "Fly Me To The Moon"
DESCRIPTION:NASA has selected several lunar sites where astronauts could once again land on the moon. The agency is set to send humans back to the moon during its Artemis III mission\, which won’t happen until at least September 2026. It will be the first time humans have walked on the lunar surface in over 50 years. \n\n\n\nThis month\, Naked Boys Reading will look at the moon in literature. \n\n\n\nNaked Boys Reading is an internationally produced literary salon featuring unclothed men reading to you: a blissful combination of literature\, book nerds\, and\, of course\, nudity! \n\n\n\nThis show is for all genders and sexualities. It is not erotic “adult entertainment” — which we’re cool with — but that’s not this. \n\n\n\nDoors will open at 7:00 pm. We cannot admit anybody prior to 7:00 pm. The show will begin at 8:00 pm sharp. Seating is first come\, first served: The sooner you arrive\, the better the view you’ll have. \n\n\n\nIf you’re attending as a party of three or more people\, it is best to arrive early — by 7:30 pm — to find seating together. \n\n\n\nWe are committed to body positivity and diverse representation. The line-up of readers for each show is usually a mix of new and returning readers. We strive to reflect the diversity of our communities at every show. Our success is partially dependent upon the availability of readers. \n\n\n\nWe regret that the venue is inaccessible to some people. It is on the second floor of the building and accessible only via stairs. Non-gendered washrooms are available. \n\n\n\nWe acknowledge that we operate on the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabeg people.

DESCRIPTION:SLAB audio/visual zine performance and livestream. \n\n\n\nSLAB is an experiment in performance & collaboration. It’s about trying new things\, working together\, & failing enthusiastically. The theme for our first show is ROBOT ROCK. \n\n\n\nYou could contribute music\, dance\, live painting\, light shows\, poetry\, skits\, miming\, etc. etc.– anything at all that you want to do\, we want to showcase. Artists & creators living in Ottawa who can’t make it to the event are encouraged to submit pieces to be aired between live segments at https://forms.gle/KSC3QDgciVmxwdwz6 \n\n\n\nAdditionally: if you want to be a part of the stream day-of\, but don’t want to be on camera\, there will be absolutely no pressure to do so. We’d love to have you help behind the scenes\, from off-camera\, in a mascot costume that fully obscures your human form; whatever suits your needs. You’re free to come & go as you please with no judgement. \n\n\n\nSchedule \n\n\n\n5:30 PM: Doors open \n\n\n\n6 PM – 8:30 PM: Plan the show (general brainstorming & collaboration\, organising segments\, preparing assets) \n\n\n\n8:30 PM: Stream \n\n\n\nThis is a mask-mandatory event & any performance done live in the space will require you to keep your mask on.
