SUMMARY:Beach Skills & Drills: Strategy/Gameplay
DESCRIPTION:Ready to take your beach volleyball skills to the next level? Join us for our Beach Skills and Drills Program led by James Battiston\, former professional volleyball player and member of the Canadian Beach National Team. James has coached for several years with the Mavericks Volleyball Club as well as 15+ years at Madawaska Volleyball Camp.   \n\n\n\nWhether you’re new to beach volleyball or a seasoned player\, we have something for you!  Join us at the RA Centre on Saturday mornings where James will bring his expert guidance to teach you fundamentals or take you to the next level with specific skills.  \n\n\n\nThis is an all-encompassing session that looks at strategies for getting your opponents to do what you want them to do. We will work on creating a serve/defensive strategy in the 2-on-2 beach game that funnels the defense to work with your strengths. On serve receive\, we will work on creating the best situation for a successful side out. For this session\, participants are expected to have basic ball control (being able to forearm or hand pass a ball to a target) to allow for meaningful rallies.

Our collective has since evolved into a safe and playful space of belonging\, experimentation and healing for Black and Black Queer youth (aged 18-30) in Ottawa\, offering resources\, hangout spaces\, connection and knowledge sharing opportunities. Pass the Vibes’ vision is to create experimental\, non-judgmental and Queer/Trans-safe spaces of belonging for Black youth to witness themselves and each other in creative expression. \n\n\n\nWe’d like to extend a big thank you to our funders\, Ontario Triullium Foundation\, for making these events possible! and thank you to our organizational mentor\, DARC – the Digital Arts Resource Centre for their ongoing support.

SUMMARY:ElderQueers (2SLGBTQIA+) Storytelling Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Elder Queer (2SLGBTQIA+) Storytelling with Mary Ellen MacLean \n\n\n\nBack by popular demand\, this summer session is open to folks who have never written a story and to those who have. If you have attended one of Mary Ellen’s workshops before\, you are welcome to come back and develop your storytelling skills. Mary Ellen has over 30 years of experience creating work for the stage and collaborating with people of all ages and experience. \n\n\n\nDuring this weeklong workshop the group will meet daily with Mary Ellen to learn some tools/skills in the art of creating a story for the stage and how to perform/tell them. Stories can be serious or comic or a blend of both. Participants may use movement\, puppets\, music – however you want to tell your story\, all are welcome! \n\n\n\nThis workshop offers an opportunity to gather\, deepen your community connections\, and create stories with the support of each other and Mary Ellen’s guidance. The focus is on having FUN\, learning some new skills\, and connecting with each other. \n\n\n\nFamily and friends are invited to the final session to hear the participant’s stories.
