SUMMARY:DJ Basics by Pass the Vibes
DESCRIPTION:Pass the Vibes is back for the summer\, and we’re calling all music lovers\, sound selectors and vibes curators… \n\n\n\nHave you ever felt a calling or curiousity towards DJing? Are you the trusty curator who’s always on the aux? New to your DJ journey or open to learn a new skill? \n\n\n\nWe’re hosting an intro-level DJ Basics workshop on Sunday\, June 8\, 2025 from 1PM-6PM! Come through to the Chnge Mker Innovation Hub\, located at 44 ByWard Market Square. \n\n\n\nThis workshop covers all things DJ Basics\, including a brief history of the craft\, software & hardware options\, mixing techniques and 1-on-1 support anyone beginning or along in their DJ journey. All levels are welcome and no previous experience is needed. You’ll have plenty of time to practice on the equipment\, which includes multiple DDJ-REV 1s and a DJControl Inpulse 500. Our facilitators will also be sharing some tips and their own personal mixing process with participants! \n\n\n\nYour Hosts: \n\n\n\n\nMusicbyJayel\n\n\n\nDJ Celestial\n\n\n\nDJ Nebula\n\n\n\nMona Monet\n\n\n\n\nYou don’t wanna miss this one! Welcome in the summer with a new skill\, new friends\, community sounds and vibrations. \n\n\n\nRegistration is limited to 15 participants. Please only register if you can come through! \n\n\n\nWe will be hosting another DJ Basics this year. \n\n\n\nTickets for this workshop are available by donation (pay what you can)\, with a suggested donation of $25. If cost is a barrier\, please feel free to reach out to us through email info@passthevibes.art and we’ll work together on a solution. \n\n\n\nLunch is included with vegan and gluten-free options available! \n\n\n\nPass the Vibes workshops are open to Black and Black Queer youth! (15-30 years old is our average age\, but all ages are welcome to come by 🙂 \n\n\n\nSee you Sunday June 8 ❤️ \n\n\n\n₊˚⊹☆ \n\n\n\nPlease email info@passthevibes.art for any concerns or special requests \n\n\n\nPass the Vibes was founded in 2019 by a group of friends in Ottawa who identified the need for inclusive and accessible knowledge-sharing spaces for Queer\, Trans\, Black\, Indigenous and People of Colour (QTBIPOC)\, especially for skills such as DJing that are often taught in very male and white-dominated environments. Our collective has since evolved into a safe and playful space of belonging\, experimentation and healing for Black and Black Queer youth (aged 18-30) in Ottawa\, offering resources\, hangout spaces\, connection and knowledge sharing opportunities. Pass the Vibes’ vision is to create experimental\, non-judgmental and Queer/Trans-safe spaces of belonging for Black youth to witness themselves and each other in creative expression. \n\n\n\nWe’d like to extend a big thank you to our funders\, Ontario Triullium Foundation\, for making these events possible! and thank you to our organizational mentor\, DARC – the Digital Arts Resource Centre for their ongoing support.
