SUMMARY:A Queer's Guide to Spiritual Living
DESCRIPTION:Blending zine-inspired animation\, spoken word\, and poetry with insightful interview footage\, this lo-fi documentary collage follows four queer people from different religious backgrounds as they explore the intersections of faith and queerness. \n\n\n\nWe meet Summeiya\, the genderfluid founder of Queer Muslim Network Toronto; Juliana\, a bisexual teacher and former Baptist Christian; Vaibhav\, a gay Hindu dancer; and Ari\, a trans Christian Orthodox drag artist. Each person talks openly about their own spiritual journey\, and their testimonies collectively open up possibilities for faith and queerness to connect rather than exist in opposition. \n\n\n\nRecognizing the complexity of individual queer faith journeys\, directors A.C. Birch and Michal Heuston have crafted an intimate work that prioritizes beauty over conflict and demonstrates that the process of reconciliation does not have to be tackled alone.

SUMMARY:Sane Inside Insanity - The Phenomenon of Rocky Horror
DESCRIPTION:Did you know the first time North American audiences ever laid eyes on The Rocky Horror Picture Show\, it happened right here in Ottawa? On August 15\, 1975\, the Canadian Film Institute (CFI) introduced audiences to an indie movie that would later become one of the world’s most legendary cult films. \n\n\n\nFifty years to the day\, join us for the premiere of a new documentary\, Sane Inside Insanity – The Phenomenon of Rocky Horror\, which uncovers the wild and incredible true story behind Rocky Horror’s rise and its status as a worldwide phenomenon. This lively and entertaining documentary offers a deep dive into the remarkable chapter of cinema history that began right here in Ottawa. \n\n\n\nRelive a legendary moment in cult movie history by celebrating Rocky Horror’s incredible legacy and the 90th Anniversary of the CFI. \n\n\n\nPlease note: This is a fundraiser event for the CFI; membership benefits do not apply to this screening. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSane Inside Insanity – The Phenomenon of Rocky Horror chronicles the evolution of this shaggy\, randy\, raucous drag musical\, from its controversial arrival on London’s independent theatre scene to its complex development as a screenplay to its glorious film version\, which had its North American premiere in Ottawa on August 15\, 1975. Featuring rare footage of early theatrical productions of the show\, interviews with cast members past and present (Tim Curry\, Richard O’Brien\, Barry Bostwick)\, and testimonials by fans who embraced and are still embracing the film\, this revealing documentary tells the amazing\, utterly unlikely story of how this movie became (and remains!) a worldwide pop culture sensation.
