SUMMARY:Now What?
DESCRIPTION:Staying informed and ready is an act of community care. This month\, we will explore how public health emergencies impact our communities\, what personal and collective preparedness looks like\, and how to stay connected to trusted supports when it matters most. \n\n\n\nThrough guided discussion we’ll walk through realistic steps for building readiness — from navigating services and accessing care to creating personal preparedness plans that reflect your needs and realities. \n\n\n\nJoin us to strengthen knowledge\, build confidence\, and ensure our communities remain supported\, informed\, and resilient in times of uncertainty. \n\n\n\nMake sure to RSVP through the form below! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNotes about access\n\n\n\n\nOur building has three elevators\, and our office is fully wheelchair accessible. There is a gender neutral and wheelchair accessible washroom just outside of our office. Please let us know in advance if you require any additional accommodations.\n\n\n\nOur office is right around the corner from bus stops for the 6\, 7\, and 11. We’re about a 5-minute walk from the nearest stop for the 14\, and a 10-minute walk from Parliament Station (Line 1 of the O-train). There are also several paid parking lots and garages within walking distance. If transit is a barrier for you to attend a session\, let us know and we’ll help you out!\n\n\n\nIf you get here after 6:30 pm\, the doors and elevator will be locked. Don’t worry — just press the MAX buzzer on the side of the door or give us a call at 613‑701‑6555 or 343‑307‑0494. (You can also reach us on WhatsApp!)\n\n\n\nSigned up for a session but can no longer make it? No problem — just shoot us an email at a.wilson@maxottawa.ca as soon as you can.

SUMMARY:Queerspora
DESCRIPTION:Moving to a new country can bring many surprises\, and sexuality is often one of the biggest areas where cultural differences show up. For queer newcomers\, navigating these differences can feel confusing\, eye-opening\, overwhelming\, or empowering. Ideas about dating\, intimacy\, consent\, public displays of affection\, sexual health\, and queer identity may be very different from what we grew up with. \n\n\n\nJoin MAX and other queer newcomers for an open conversation about sexual cultural shock: the moments when the norms\, attitudes\, and expectations around sex and relationships in Canada feel unfamiliar or surprising. Together\, we’ll explore how these cultural shifts affect our sense of identity\, comfort\, safety\, and pleasure. \n\n\n\nMake sure to RSVP through the form below! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNotes about access\n\n\n\n\nThe room is on ground level\, so no elevators needed. And accessible washroom are marked with appropriate signage (all on the same level).\n\n\n\nWe’ll have signs posted to help redirect you if you get lost!\n\n\n\nCentretown Community Health Centre is right around the corner from bus stops for the 6\, 7\, and 11. We’re about a 5-minute walk from the nearest stop for the 14\, and a 10-minute walk from Parliament Station (Line 1 of the O-train).
