We’re proud of everyone who presents themselves openly\, or are still finding themselves! \n\n\n\nTo celebrate our wonderful community\, the library will be holding an open house celebration on Sunday\, March 30th\, from 1-4PM- with snacks available- While you snack\, check out our amazing collection of books for loan\, play board games\, and socialize with the community! \n\n\n\n*Snacks are first-come\, first-serve prioritizing the trans community – Please check our stories for updates on snack availability!* \n\n\n\nThank you so much to our friends at Moo Shu Ice Cream @mooshuicecream and Little Jo Berry’s @littlejoberrys who have generously provided delicious snacks\, and have consistently supported the library and the Ottawa trans community! \n\n\n\nVegan and gluten-free options will be available!And thank you to the good folks of @gendereveal who popularized the idea of Trans Day of Snack. \n\n\n\n*Who is eligible for snacks? * \n\n\n\nIf you identify under the trans and/or non-binary umbrella\, you’re welcome! SUMMARY:World AIDS Day 2024: HIV Futures
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special screening and discussion to mark World AIDS Day. Our film program will be a series of short films\, titled Viral Interventions. The six new short films from Nepal\, Bulgaria\, Brazil\, Ecuador\, and Canada tell urgent and extraordinary stories about living with HIV today. The techniques are as diverse as their makers: from lush animation and staged floral portraits\, to radical sex performances and hybrid documentary mash-ups. Their voices are equally unforgettable\, brimming with laughter\, tears\, fury\, and joyful activism. Together\, they explore autobiographical stories from around the globe about this pandemic\, which still claims more than half a million lives every year. \n\n\n\nViral Interventions is a York University research-creation project led by John Greyson and Sarah Flicker that\, since 2020\, has commissioned artists\, activists\, and scholars to collaborate on making new films about living with HIV today. The world premiere of these films will be presented in collaboration with TIFF in Toronto on Saturday\, November 30\, and we are honoured to be able to bring these to our community in Ottawa.  \n\n\n\nFollowing the films\, we will have a performance and fireside chat about the future of HIV with artist and performer BOA\, from Canada’s Drag Race.
