DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to a unique and interactive opportunity to do a partial playthrough and Q&A of Known Mysteries. The first Solar Server solar-powered indie game. This event will be hosted by Kara Stone (creator of Solar Server and Known Mysteries visiting all the way from Calgary) and PARTYGIRL (voice of Sorrow\, lead). \n\n\n\nTrailer available here! \n\n\n\nKnown Mysteries is a lo-fi climate fable about the desire to escape Earth. A deduction game set in a near-future Canada held captive by massive oil companies. The player guides Sorrow through the mysteries she uncovers upon her return to her hometown after the death of her mothers. \n\n\n\nSolar Server is an autonomous solar powered web server run from Kara Stone’s apartment balcony in Calgary\, Alberta\, Canada. It will host a series of videogames designed to be low-carbon and have environmental themes in the games. Read articles about Solar Server in The Guardian\, Tech Radar\, and CNET. \n\n\n\nKara Stone is an artist and scholar making work about psychosocial disability\, sexuality\, and the environment. She works in different media but most often in interactive art and experimental videogames. Her artwork has been featured in The Atlantic\, Wired\, and VICE\, and exhibited at Athens Digital Art Festival in Greece\, Vector Game Art Festival in Toronto\, Canada and a solo exhibition at Babycastles in New York City\, USA. Folks of all skill levels can sign up to perform any art form of their choosing\, which can encompass music\, drag\, poetry\, and more.  \n\n\n\nFolks who are interested in attending Open Stage Night without performing are also encouraged to sign up below.  \n\n\n\nWhat is an open stage/open mic night? \n\n\n\nThese are typically events where audience members can practice their performance skills or promote their upcoming shows. Consider this event more of a rehearsal than a professional show\, where we can center folks within our communities who aren’t typically given opportunities to practice their skills in front of a live audience. Tipping/donating to performers is encouraged. \n\n\n\nPlease note that performers are required to provide a short description of their performance with their registration. Performances should align with Kind Space values. Cocktail attire suggested. \n\n\n\nAbout Loch Nisse Monster: \n\n\n\nLoch Nisse Monster rose from the swamps of an Ottawa 70’s-themed house party\, where in a haze the musician was told that her name sounded like the famous monster of Loch Ness. Nisse brings the folky vibe of this mysterious creature to the music\, telling stories and painting emotions. Along with inspiration from the genres of rock\, pop\, and punk\, the “monster” in Loch Nisse Monster doesn’t hesitate to get at ironic and unjust truths. Yet\, with the hope of tales\, Loch Nisse Monster longs to share her music and express things in ways that haven’t been before with the desire to make people feel seen through her song. \n\n\n\nLoch Nisse plays solo\, in ensemble\, or with her trusty band\, who are featured on all recordings to date: Laetitia Lemieux on lead guitar\, Griffin Nguyen on bass\, Chloe Martin on drums\, and Robyn Lichaa on the fiddle. \n\n\n\nAbout hannah vig: \n\n\n\nSince her onstage debut in 2022\, Hannah Vig has been making waves in Ottawa’s music scene. Releasing a debut single and E.P. in 2023 and winning OMIC’s Capital Music Award for Newcomer of the Year in 2024\, Vig has made a name for herself as Ottaw’s sensitive\, sapphic\, singer-songwriter. Originally known for intimate and emotive acoustic performances\, Vig has been joined by a backing band since August 2023. Bringing her rock influences to the fore\, Vig’s soulful voice soars on songs evoking the likes of Boygenius and Olivia Rodrigo. Currently consisting of Eric Montpool (lead guitar)\, Matthew Scharfe (bass)\, and Brendan Vandepol (drums)\, the band adds an exciting energy to her already dynamic sound and hard-hitting lyrics. \n\n\n\nAbout Annie Martel: \n\n\n\nAnnie Martel is a Canadian singer-songwriter and one of Ottawa’s jewels. Martel’s sincere\, contemplative songs are anointed by her unequivocal voice and thoughtful musical style. She has a special way of engaging with complex human themes through her music\, finding healing and release in the magic of songwriting and offering listeners the same opportunity. Annie will be accompanied by her local star-studded band\, whose lush arrangements and skillful sounds elevate each song with poise (& a little bit of rock n’ roll). Having been part of the local music scene for nearly a decade\, Annie is looking forward to ~finally~ releasing her debut album in the coming months – stay tuned! \n\n\n\nMore about Forensis\, the album: \n\n\n\nForensis\, Loch Nisse Monster’s debut album\, is a concept record based around the idea of a murder investigation as a metaphor for a breakup. Forensis is the Latin word for “the forum” or “public affairs\,” but also connects to forensic psychology on a crime scene\, or alternatively\, becomes a representation of the broader uncovering of the truth. The record brings out the following themes relating to the Forensis concept: reluctance of falling in love\, expectations in love\, stages of grief and reckoning in heartbreak\, estrangement\, womanhood and fame\, coming of age\, and existentialism.

DESCRIPTION:🔆 It’s spring and we’re thinking patios! Dance party and patio hangs @ottawabikecafe on June 20th – @djdelpilar on the decks\, 7-10 pm. Guest performances by @theresagrahamstudio! \n\n\n\nThe Ottawa Bike Cafe is a physically accessible space with lots of room\, high ceilings\, a powerful HVAC system and a sweet patio. The cafe serves a wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages alongside alcoholic drinks and food. Eating and drinking on the patio\, please.😷KN95 or equivalent masks are required indoors and optional outdoors. Some N95s (overhead straps) will be available at the door for free. The staff may be wearing surgical masks\, but will be offered N95s (TBD).😷 More covid-safer info: Two air purifiers and the HVAC system will be running all night. We will have a CO2 monitor on the DJ table where anyone can check the levels anytime.🎟 Tickets are by donation; the suggested donation is $20 but starts at $0. We want to reduce financial barriers by making tickets truly pay what you can! Inspired by pioneers like David Mancuso and Larry Levan\, he sees music as more than just sound—it’s an experience\, a connection\, and a powerful force that transcends the moment. \n\n\n\nAs he shifts focus toward releasing bold and original work\, his journey remains unpredictable\, shaped by instinct rather than expectation. Growing up in the 90s\, his influences draw from the sounds of classic video game soundtracks\, punk\, grunge and metal. With a focus on Deep\, Progressive and Techno genres – he aims to bring people together\, make them feel and make them move. \n\n\n\nHe made his debut with MAP (Music.Art.Ppl) in Ottawa\, and has since graced stages across Ottawa (City At Night\, Mercury Lounge)\, Montreal and Toronto. He\, along with his beautiful partner Stacey\, run Basscamp – a local event group that aims to capture the essence of some of their favorite festivals\, creating welcoming experiences where people feel free and safe to dance\, express themselves and make genuine connections.
