Expect high-energy dance tracks and all your fave queers! \n\n\n\nGet fancy and dance with cuties! \n\n\n\nHighlights \n\n\n\n\nThis event centers people who are queer and/or trans who take covid precautions in their everyday lives. Allies who take covid precautions are also welcome but please be mindful that this is primarily a space for queer and/or trans folks. We also welcome 2SLGBTQIA+ folks who are interested in a sober-friendly space and who will respect the covid-safer protocols of this event!\n\n\n\nMask mandatory event (KN95 or better). Masks are provided at the door and required before entry.\n\n\n\nThis is a substance-free and sober-friendly event. Guests are welcome to consume before or after the event\, but please be mindful of intoxication levels.\n\n\n\nSliding scale tickets.\n\n\n\nThe canteen is open for non-alcoholic beverages. They include genre-fluid electronic producer Korea Town Acid\, ethereal club angel Monsieurmadam\, electrifying R&B/noise artist Quinton Barnes\, Afrobeats scene stealer Banggz\, global south sound selector TRINIDADDY\, fractal ambient brainfeeder 16:9 ratio\, cyborgian new media artist Ajeebsir\, anti-disciplinary installation collaborative Sabrina Ferrari & Evalyn Shields\, and eclectic songwriter Sandour.  \n\n\n\nPlus\, back by popular demand\, Pique will host the Queertopia kiki ball presented by Legendary Mother Maldita and Yéila Siriano\, welcoming legends and leaders from ballroom scenes across Canada to not only host a ball\, but also mentor emerging ballroom artists through skill-building workshops presented by MAX Ottawa. DESCRIPTION:Laylit is a platform and collective celebrating music and artists from the Arab/SWANA region and its diaspora. Over the last four years their dance parties in New York City and Montreal have carved out an unmatched place in North American nightlife\, becoming an anticipated social gathering and unique musical experience.  \n\n\n\nEach party takes you on a genre-spanning journey\, highlighting the incredible musical diversity\, depth and richness that comes out of the region. Laylit has established its place on the scene with a signature electronic sound blending shaabi\, dabke\, mahraganat\, Arabic pop and hip-hop with contemporary\, boundary pushing dance music (techno\, breakbeat\, hyperpop…) inspired by New York and Montreal’s thriving underground clubs. Featured in multiple publications including the New York Times and Pitchfork\, Laylit recently celebrated its 5-year anniversary with a Boiler Room event in NYC and a tour across multiple North American cities. Laylit values inclusivity and unity across cultures\, languages\, dialects\, religions\, identity and sexual orientations.  \n\n\n\nACCESSIBILITY & SAFETY Gridwrks is on the ground level. Bathrooms are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.  \n\n\n\nMAX Ottawa will be on site to provide free harm reduction supplies and offer support to attendees.

The (gendered) washrooms are shared with the whole floor but after hours it’s unlikely anyone else will be on site. \n\n\n\nThe studio is over 800 square feet of open space with an 11 ft ceiling and two small windows that open (weather depending).
