DESCRIPTION:End the year with a sweet little sober dance party! \n\n\n\nWe’re ending the year with a dance party at @TheGrove featuring @djdelpilar! Expect high-energy dance tracks and all your fave queers! \n\n\n\nGet fancy and dance with cuties! \n\n\n\nOptional Gift Exchange \n\n\n\nWe’re holding a little gift exchange. Wrap up your fave (used) book\, something you were gifted but won’t use\, write out a poem you wrote\, share a zine or some homemade cookies! Any cute little gift for the trade pile. Anyone who wants to participate will leave their gift with the others and take one with them when they leave. \n\n\n\nHighlights \n\n\n\n\nThis event centers people who are queer and/or trans who take covid precautions in their everyday lives. Allies who take covid precautions are also welcome but please be mindful that this is primarily a space for queer and/or trans folks. We also welcome 2SLGBTQIA+ folks who are interested in a sober-friendly space and who will respect the covid-safer protocols of this event!\n\n\n\nMask mandatory event (KN95 or better). Masks are provided at the door and required before entry.\n\n\n\nThis is a substance-free and sober-friendly event. Guests are welcome to consume before or after the event\, but please be mindful of intoxication levels.\n\n\n\nSliding scale tickets.\n\n\n\nThe canteen is open for non-alcoholic beverages. Please enjoy in the hall.\n\n\n\n\nAccessibility Details \n\n\n\n\nPlease avoid wearing anything scented.\n\n\n\nVarious kinds of seats are available\, see below.\n\n\n\nYou’re encouraged to bring your earplugs and some are available for free onsite.\n\n\n\nNo strobes/flashing lights\n\n\n\nThe building has an elevator\n\n\n\nThe door to The Grove is not automatic.\n\n\n\n\nCOVID safety \n\n\n\n\nMasks mandatory: KN95 or better.\n\n\n\n3 air purifiers in use.\n\n\n\nA CO2 monitor is available and visible throughout the event.\n\n\n\nThe HVAC system will be in operation\, as well as 3 air purifiers. Designed for discovery\, community connection and radical self-expression\, Pique brings together some of the boldest ground-breaking artists from across Canada to experiment and engage with the local artistic community.  \n\n\n\nThis season\, Pique features emergent innovators in the fields of pop-avant garde\, ambient-electronic\, contemporary installation\, afro-rap\, and more. They include genre-fluid electronic producer Korea Town Acid\, ethereal club angel Monsieurmadam\, electrifying R&B/noise artist Quinton Barnes\, Afrobeats scene stealer Banggz\, global south sound selector TRINIDADDY\, fractal ambient brainfeeder 16:9 ratio\, cyborgian new media artist Ajeebsir\, anti-disciplinary installation collaborative Sabrina Ferrari & Evalyn Shields\, and eclectic songwriter Sandour.  \n\n\n\nPlus\, back by popular demand\, Pique will host the Queertopia kiki ball presented by Legendary Mother Maldita and Yéila Siriano\, welcoming legends and leaders from ballroom scenes across Canada to not only host a ball\, but also mentor emerging ballroom artists through skill-building workshops presented by MAX Ottawa. Community members can sign up to walk the ball here. More information about workshops coming soon.  \n\n\n\nTickets to Pique are pay-what-you-can (PWYC)\, with sliding-scale and subsidized options available. Our PWYC ticket keeps the festival open to everyone while inviting those who can pay more to help cover the cost for others. Every contribution above the minimum goes directly toward fair artist pay\, inclusive programming\, and supporting independent culture in Ottawa.  \n\n\n\nFeaturing performances\, exhibitions and interactive presentations by 20 participating artists\, Pique winter edition is not to be missed  \n\n\n\nACCESSIBILITY  \n\n\n\nAs always\, Pique is all ages and pay-what-you-can.
