SUMMARY:Riverbed Smut Slam
DESCRIPTION:Do you have a spicy story that your friends love to hear? Is there a seggs story you’ve always wanted to tell? Want to hear true saucy tales and vote on a winner? That is what smut slams are all about! Come out to Club SAW on July 20th for a hot and heavy summer fundraiser for Riverbed Reading Series. We have 10 spots for readers\, many seats to fill\, and an amazing silent auction featuring gifts from local businesses and smutty art from the SAW Gallery archives. \n\n\n\nThe Riverbed Reading Series Fundraiser is an annual event to raise funds for Ottawa’s only experimental literary reading and performance series. Five times a year\, we bring artists and audiences together to indulge in creativity and inspire cross-pollinations.  \n\n\n\nSign up to slam\, buy your tickets today\, then mark your calendars! Doors open at 6:30 p.m.\, and the slam starts promptly at 7:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nPlease note that all readers must follow the official Smut Slam storytelling rules\, which we have borrowed and adapted for this event. \n\n\n\nRiverbed’s Smut Slam Rules: \n\n\n\n• No notes\, costumes\, or props; this is storytelling\, not theater. \n\n\n\n• Only five minutes\, with a one-minute grace period. \n\n\n\n• The story must be real and have happened to you. \n\n\n\n• Please speak clearly into the mic. \n\n\n\n• CONSENT IS KEY. These must be stories about consensual sex. If it’s not consensual\, then it’s not sex. \n\n\n\n• This is not a “Kinkier Than Thou” competition. Tellers don’t get bonus points for more people and/or equipment in the story. We welcome people with all types and amounts of sexual experiences to our space. \n\n\n\n• Some stories are very raw and heavy. Readers are not required to give a content warning or note before their story\, but if your topic might be triggering\, we encourage you to let the audience know. \n\n\n\n• You don’t always need to be the hero. Stories often are funny and/or “epic\,” but we want to encourage people to consider sharing their sad\, disturbing\, poignant\, serious\, simple and/or “fail” experiences\, too. \n\n\n\n• This space is queer-friendly\, kink-friendly AND vanilla-friendly\, fat-friendly\, poly-friendly\, sex worker-friendly\, asexual-friendly — we are just super friendly! \n\n\n\n• We do not welcome stories involving racism\, transphobia\, homophobia\, sexism\, body-shaming\, and/or any other discrimination\, nonconsensual fetishization\, objectification. We will interrupt and ask you to leave the stage if this boundary is crossed.

If you’re compelled by the marketing\, it’s for you. ❤️‍🔥 \n\n\n\nFIRST HALF: Get a drink and settle into a guided meditation and creative writing session. We are regulating so we can access our erotic creative energyyyy! \n\n\n\nSECOND HALF: Enjoy the hot\, wet\, juicy\, fruits of our labour with some live smut reading. \n\n\n\nBring your own journals\, pens\, etc. I will have some supplies too if you’d like. \n\n\n\nWant to read smut you’ve written outside of the event? No problem. Bring it with you. \n\n\n\nYou will NOT be put on the spot. Choosing to read is entirely optional. \n\n\n\nSigning up to read will be first come first serve in person at the event. \n\n\n\nRelaxed. Erotic. Creative. \n\n\n\nAccessibility\n\n\n\nThere is a 2 step stoop at the front entrance\, but our back entrance is at street level with only a 1.5 inch lip to get into the space. The main bathroom is in the basement which is 10 steps down. We do however have a small secondary washroom in our kitchen space across the driveway that can be accessed by key. This has a 4 inch lip at the entrance and is not necessarily comfortably wheelchair accessible in terms of space but may be useful for individuals who have other mobility issues that prevent them from using the stairs.
