DESCRIPTION:We are a non-audition choir! Members are required to be able to carry a tune and to sing in a treble vocal range (Soprano or Alto). We are a performance-focused choir; we expect singers to participate in at least one annual concert; members may also perform at extra performances/gigs throughout the season. \n\n\n\nOur rehearsals take place each Tuesday evenings; our main rehearsal time is 7:00 – 8:30pm. DESCRIPTION:Queer Death Salon is a virtual community space for all 2SLGBTQIA+ people to come together to discuss death\, dying and grief. It is a facilitated drop-in discussion space\, with the purpose of building connection\, skill\, and resources for 2SLGBTQIA+ people navigating end of life in our personal lives and in our communities. \n\n\n\nYou are invited into an experiential gathering to honour y/our beloveds who have passed\, sending a thread forward to y/our queer descendants and anchoring into y/our current aliveness. \n\n\n\nWith ritualized practices\, a guided meditation and space for sharing\, this QDS is held near many celebrations of death such as Samhain\, All Souls Day\, Dia de los Muertos\, Hallowe’en. \n\n\n\nIt is also the time of year when death is all around\, the land begins to rest for winter before composting for spring. DESCRIPTION:Gender Identity Applications \n\n\n\nThis module begins with a review of best practices related to supporting people with diverse gender identities in three areas: personal support\, institutional practices\, and environmental experiences. \n\n\n\nFollowing this review\, there is a brief discussion of current political realities facing people with diverse gender identities\, discussing international context and reviewing current Canadian issues. \n\n\n\nThe bulk of the module will be a discussion of four scenarios. Each participant will have time to discuss two scenarios in detail\, and review the other two scenarios as part of a debrief. Each scenario has proposed discussion questions\, and most scenarios also include suggested scripts for practice.

DESCRIPTION:Weekly\, all-ages\, fibre arts meetup open to all skill levels. Bring your knitting\, crochet\, sewing\, quilting\, felting — whatever you’re working on\, and create in community while enjoying a cuppa or a tasty treat. \n\n\n\nThere are ramps on either end of our strip mall’s sidewalk for wheelchairs\, walkers\, and strollers to access the front door. It’s awkward and not perfect\, but it works! Cafe is all one level. washroom has an extra wide door and grab bars to facilitate transfers. All of our furniture is rated for a minimum of 250 lbs with some chairs rated for 500 lbs. The space is well lit with warm-toned overhead lamps. Background music plays at a low volume. Our doors are all manual\, not automated.  \n\n\n\nGluten free\, vegan\, and refined sugar-free options are available for food and drink. \n\n\n\nCafé Bon Vivant is a queer-owned business. The facilitator for Coffee and Crochet is also a member of the queer community. This event is free and open to everyone.

This is a free\, recurring event\, music and light snacks will be provided.We will be meeting at McNabb Community Center\, 180 Percy St\, Ottawa\, ON K1R 5P4\, in the Assembly Hall. The Estate is situated in Chelsea\, Québec\, which is on the unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabeg. \n\n\n\nBring a lunch for the picnic\, a blanket or chair to sit\, and something warm to drink. \n\n\n\nThe event will be canceled if it rains heavily. Let’s hope for a sunny\, gay day! \n\n\n\nThe Gatineau Park is part of the National Capital Commission (NCC)\, a Crown corporation which controls vast amounts of unceded lands portrayed as a venue for settlers and tourists to discover and explore nature. This is part of a continued agenda of colonization. Recognizing this is only a first step in decolonizing our relationship to land. (See the end of this event description for a way to support resistance to ongoing colonization).
