If you have attended one of Mary Ellen’s workshops before\, you are welcome to come back and develop your storytelling skills. Mary Ellen has over 30 years of experience creating work for the stage and collaborating with people of all ages and experience. \n\n\n\nDuring this weeklong workshop the group will meet daily with Mary Ellen to learn some tools/skills in the art of creating a story for the stage and how to perform/tell them. Stories can be serious or comic or a blend of both. Participants may use movement\, puppets\, music – however you want to tell your story\, all are welcome! \n\n\n\nThis workshop offers an opportunity to gather\, deepen your community connections\, and create stories with the support of each other and Mary Ellen’s guidance. DESCRIPTION:Eva Crocker is a writer and editor based in Tiohtià:ke (Montreal). She is the author of two novels\, All I Ask and Back in the Land of the Living\, and the short story collection Barrelling Forward.  Her new short story collection Bargain Bargain Bargain will be published in 2025. She is the organizer of the Lamp Lit reading series and regularly runs a short fiction workshop open to people of all experience levels. \n\n\n\nDr. Androbox is Ottawa’s premier singing\, storytelling drag king. Originally of St. John’s\, Newfoundland\, this king of crinoline and coattails captured the title of Mr. Capital Pride 2022 after three years off-stage due to his ongoing battle with ulcerative colitis. Dr. Androbox is literally a drag king on steroids\, and is proudly trans\, crip\, and neurospicy. Together with his 7-piece band\, The Pronouns\, he is the only drag king in the world to have released a full album of original music. This comedic crooner will delight you with his powerful voice and fabulous finery\, leaving you hungry for more of his catchy melodies and moving stories. \n\n\n\nMLA Chernoff is a Toronto-based writer whose debut poetry collection\, [SQUELCH PROCEDURES]\, was released by Gordon Hill Press in 2021. They are the author of seven poetry chapbooks\, including TERSE THIRSTY\, I’M LIKE THE GREAT GRANDCHILD OF MARX & COCA-COLA (BUT NON-BINEY)\, and ESTRO FLUNKY. MLA’s work has been featured in numerous journals\, such as PRISM International\, The Ex-Puritan\, and Peach Mag. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our fourth annual Kind Space Soirée\, as we host a social and dress up night full of mocktails\, socializing\, and even karaoke. “All-of-the-Gay” Soirée is a social event for all those over 18+ in our 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We were so thrilled with the turnout the last three years\, and the amount of donated affirming and accessible formal and business wear! So we have made this an annual event\, and have moved it back to Pride Week in Ottawa!  We will be serving mocktails\, so no alcohol will be served by Kind Space at this event. \n\n\n\nThis event has a broad dress code including our theme of Galaxy or Stars\, or semi-formal; cocktail attire; business casual clothing. The Dress Code is not manditory\, and we want you to wear whatever makes YOU feel comfortable\, elevated or fancy. But you deserve an excuse to dress\, impress\, and enjoy a nice evening without needing to spend money.  \n\n\n\nWe also recognize that not all 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals have access to affordable gender affirming formal or semi-formal clothing\, but may have a desire to wear or own such clothing. This is why every year Kind Space seeks donations for business and formal attire for our “Out of the Closet” clothing space to provide a selection of these affirming garments to be accessible to those who need it. So either it be a nice outfit for a job interview\, a dear friends wedding\, or any occasion that requires pazzaz\, we will still take it. You can donate anytime during our Drop-In operational hours of 12PM-6PM Wednesday to Friday. You can also drop these donations off anytime before\, or during the event. If you have attended one of Mary Ellen’s workshops before\, you are welcome to come back and develop your storytelling skills. Mary Ellen has over 30 years of experience creating work for the stage and collaborating with people of all ages and experience. \n\n\n\nDuring this weeklong workshop the group will meet daily with Mary Ellen to learn some tools/skills in the art of creating a story for the stage and how to perform/tell them. Stories can be serious or comic or a blend of both. Participants may use movement\, puppets\, music – however you want to tell your story\, all are welcome! \n\n\n\nThis workshop offers an opportunity to gather\, deepen your community connections\, and create stories with the support of each other and Mary Ellen’s guidance.
