DESCRIPTION:A monthly gathering for queer SWANA folks and allies to come together around a shared meal\, watch a movie\, and discuss it together afterward. \n\n\n\nThis event is held every first Tuesday of the month\, in the welcoming space generously offered by the folks at KindSpace (400 Cooper St.). \n\n\n\nWe know life happens\, conversations run long\, and time in SWANA cultures can be… flexible. The venue is accessible\, and doors open at 5:30 pm. We’ll start gathering at 5:45 pm\, and the movie will begin around 6:30 pm. You’re welcome to join for any part of the evening. There’s no pressure to be there for all three. What matters most is showing up with curiosity\, care\, and an open and inclusive mindset. \n\n\n\nWhether this is your first time or your tenth\, queer SWANA folks and respectful allies are welcome in this shared space. \n\n\n\n🕑 Rough program \n\n\n\n5:45–6:30 Shared food and catching up on the latest gossip \n\n\n\n6:30–8:30 Getting cozy together for the movie \n\n\n\n8:30–9:00 Sharing thoughts\, feelings\, questions. DESCRIPTION:Gender Identity Applications \n\n\n\nThis module begins with a review of best practices related to supporting people with diverse gender identities in three areas: personal support\, institutional practices\, and environmental experiences. \n\n\n\nFollowing this review\, there is a brief discussion of current political realities facing people with diverse gender identities\, discussing international context and reviewing current Canadian issues. \n\n\n\nThe bulk of the module will be a discussion of four scenarios. Each participant will have time to discuss two scenarios in detail\, and review the other two scenarios as part of a debrief. Each scenario has proposed discussion questions\, and most scenarios also include suggested scripts for practice.

SUMMARY:Transform Gender Collective (TGC) Monthly Meetings
DESCRIPTION:Transform Gender Collective (TGC) is a support and discussion group for transmasculine and masculine-of-center Black\, indigenous\, and people of color (BIPOC) to learn about transformative justice\, unlearn toxic gendered behaviors\, and imagine what masculinity could look like outside of the gender binary.  \n\n\n\nDuring our virtual meetings\, we will dive deep into the framework of transformative justice (TJ) and how we can apply it to our everyday lives\, create a community of support for one another\, and share our personal stories of coming into our genders. Our ultimate goal is to move the group towards a closed community accountability space where we can practice robust transformative justice as we heal and grow in our masculinities together.  \n\n\n\nTGC is open to any Black\, Indigenous\, and/or person of color (BIPOC) who identifies as transmasculine or masculine-of-center\, regardless of gender identity.  \n\n\n\nWe ask that white-passing BIPOC reflect on their privilege and the way they are racialized. At TGC\, we discuss our gendered experiences as people that are racialized as Black or brown in the world. Please choose whether to attend our meetings based on these reflections.   \n\n\n\nOur virtual monthly meetings are held over Zoom and take place on the last Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8PM EST. DESCRIPTION:Gender Identity Fundamentals \n\n\n\nThis module is primarily concerned with deepening understanding of the term “gender identity”. It discusses five major components of gender identity: sense of self\, community identity\, societal influences\, biology\, and time. \n\n\n\nThe module proceeds to discuss intersectionality and the ways gender interacts with other aspects of identity. There is a brief discussion of pronouns\, and the distinction between pronouns and identity. The module continues with a detailed examination of cisgender privilege\, to ground the theoretical discussion and prepare participants to explore the scenarios in Module II.  \n\n\n\nGender Identity Fundamentals concludes by addressing current political context for trans people internationally and nationally\, and possible actions.
