DESCRIPTION:We’re back with our pals at @thegrove613 to bring you something a bit more laid-back for the winter. DJ del Pilar will be spinning low decibel Afrohouse/beats\, funk & RnB. We’ll provide some games – feel free to bring your own!Bar with non-alcoholic drinks inc beer\, cocktails\, seltzers and more. \n\n\n\nAccessing the space: After 6pm\, the front doors to 18 Louisa will be locked. We will have a volunteer at the door\, 6-6:30 and after that\, you can buzz 2800 to open the doors. Check the QR code below to see a video on getting to the space!This is a covid-safer event! We don’t have a lot of spots for the #covidcautiouscommunity so we’re prioritizing safety\, access\, and community at this event:N95 or equivalent are required. Some masks will be available at the door. We monitor CO2 throughout the night and will announce if the monitors reach 1000 (though it didn’t go above 825 at our last games night). The new Grove space is much bigger than the last one with 2 small windows that open\, a central HVAC system\, and high ceilings. We will have at least 3 air purifiers running at max at all times. 18 Louisa does not have easy access to outside so we ask that you enjoy your drinks in the hall outside the main space. \n\n\n\nA few tickets are available at the door on a first come basis. Sliding scale – $5-20 (cash only at the door) \n\n\n\nNotes About The Grove \n\n\n\n280-18 Louisa is on the 2nd floor of the building with elevator access. There are automatic doors on the outside of the building but the door to the studio is manual. \n\n\n\nThere are accessible washrooms on the 2nd floor. The (gendered) washrooms are shared with the whole floor but after hours it’s unlikely anyone else will be on site. \n\n\n\nThe studio is over 800 square feet of open space with an 11 ft ceiling \n\n\n\nFor seating\, we have several options – White folding chairs (max 225lbs /102 kg static) Blue stacking chairs ( max 660lbs / 299.3 kg static) Brown couch (max 700lbs/317.5 kg static) Rustic brown stools (max 264.5lbs/ 120 kg static)

DESCRIPTION:Run 5 \, 7\, or 9 km with the Frontrunners and have breakfast afterwards at Cooper’s Gastropub. \n\n\n\nOttawa Frontrunners (OFR) is a running and walking club for members of the Two-Spirit\, Lesbian\, Gay\, Bisexual\, Transgender\, and Queer (2SLGBTQ) community and friends. Located in Ottawa\, it is Canada’s national capital chapter of International Frontrunners. We have runners of various ages and skill levels and typically have groups going between 5 and 9 km (3 and 5.59 miles) at various paces. Walkers are also members of the club\, consisting usually of runners on the injury list and partners or friends of runners.

DESCRIPTION:A six-week in-person workshop   \n\n\n\nWant to tell your story? Or a story? What story have you always wanted to tell?  \n\n\n\nAs Elders in the queer community\, your stories are important to be shared\, to be heard\, and to be remembered.  \n\n\n\nThis Winter/Spring session is open to folks who have never written a story and to those who have. If you have attended one of Mary Ellen’s workshops before\, you are welcome to come back and develop your storytelling skills. Mary Ellen has over thirty years of experience creating work for the stage and collaborating with people of all ages. \n\n\n\nDuring this six-week workshop\, participants will meet once a week for two hours to learn basic skills to create and tell their story. Stories can be serious or comic or a blend of both. Participants may use movement\, puppets\, music – however you want to tell your story – are all welcome! \n\n\n\nThis workshop offers an opportunity to gather\, deepen your community connections\, and create stories with the support of each other. The focus is on having FUN\, learning some new skills\, and connecting with each other. \n\n\n\nFamily and friends are invited to the final session to hear the participant’s stories. \n\n\n\nThis workshop is held in English. The registration fee gives you access to all 6 workshop sessions from February 22 to March 29\, 2025.

DESCRIPTION:Come ready to sing! In this interactive concert\, Tone Cluster and All Voices queer choirs will lead the audience in singing songs of protest and justice\, as well as perform some choral numbers. Joining us for this event will be Kimberly Waigwa\, the Artistic Director of Minnesota’s One Voice Chorus!  \n\n\n\nThe concert will be approx. 75 mins\, with a short intermission.  \n\n\n\nThe venue is First Unitarian\, which is a wheelchair accessible space and has gender neutral single stall washrooms in addition to multiple stall gendered washrooms. Seating is cushioned wooden pews. The space is secular in nature.  \n\n\n\nFree parking is available on site and there are nearby bus stops.
