Bring your knitting\, crochet\, sewing\, quilting\, felting — whatever you’re working on\, and create in community while enjoying a cuppa or a tasty treat. \n\n\n\nThere are ramps on either end of our strip mall’s sidewalk for wheelchairs\, walkers\, and strollers to access the front door. It’s awkward and not perfect\, but it works! Cafe is all one level. washroom has an extra wide door and grab bars to facilitate transfers. All of our furniture is rated for a minimum of 250 lbs with some chairs rated for 500 lbs. The space is well lit with warm-toned overhead lamps. Background music plays at a low volume. Our doors are all manual\, not automated.  \n\n\n\nGluten free\, vegan\, and refined sugar-free options are available for food and drink. \n\n\n\nCafé Bon Vivant is a queer-owned business. The facilitator for Coffee and Crochet is also a member of the queer community. This event is free and open to everyone.

DESCRIPTION:We are a non-audition choir! Members are required to be able to carry a tune and to sing in a treble vocal range (Soprano or Alto). We are a performance-focused choir; we expect singers to participate in at least one annual concert; members may also perform at extra performances/gigs throughout the season. \n\n\n\nOur rehearsals take place each Tuesday evenings; our main rehearsal time is 7:00 – 8:30pm. DESCRIPTION:Weekly\, all-ages\, fibre arts meetup open to all skill levels. Bring your knitting\, crochet\, sewing\, quilting\, felting — whatever you’re working on\, and create in community while enjoying a cuppa or a tasty treat. \n\n\n\nThere are ramps on either end of our strip mall’s sidewalk for wheelchairs\, walkers\, and strollers to access the front door. It’s awkward and not perfect\, but it works! Cafe is all one level. washroom has an extra wide door and grab bars to facilitate transfers. All of our furniture is rated for a minimum of 250 lbs with some chairs rated for 500 lbs. The space is well lit with warm-toned overhead lamps. Background music plays at a low volume. Our doors are all manual\, not automated.  \n\n\n\nGluten free\, vegan\, and refined sugar-free options are available for food and drink. \n\n\n\nCafé Bon Vivant is a queer-owned business. The facilitator for Coffee and Crochet is also a member of the queer community. This event is free and open to everyone.

Stryker retired from the University of Arizona in 2020 and currently holds a distinguished visiting appointment at Stanford University’s Michelle Clayman Institute for Gender Research. She is the author of many academic and general audience works\, including Transgender History. \n\n\n\nLaura Horak is Professor of Film Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa\, Ontario\, and founder of the award-winning Transgender Media Portal. She is author of Girls Will Be Boys: Cross-Dressed Women\, Lesbians\, and American Cinema. \n\n\n\nCara Tierney is a Scottish/Irish/Italian/white/settler\, trans* creative/educator/consultant/curator whose work sits at the intersection of art and education\, oriented toward collective liberation. Currently a prof in the University of Ottawa’s Visual Arts department\, over the last 20 years they have delivered and designed both arts\, and arts-based workshops on unceded Algonquin land\, in and around so-called Ottawa\, approaching their work as an endless series of moments from which to learn\, bridge creativity\, communities\, and share knowledge in the service of social transformation. \n\n\n\nSponsored by Carleton’s Transgender Media Lab; Institute for Comparative Studies of Literature\, Arts\, and Culture; Department of Law and Legal Studies\, Department of Sociology and Anthropology; Canada Research Chair in Critical Disability Studies and Communication; Digital Accessible Futures Lab; Sarah Brouilette; and Jennifer Evans; as well as St. Paul University’s Élisabeth-Bruyère School of Social Innovation.

SUMMARY:Grief Gardening
DESCRIPTION:Queer Death Salon is a virtual community space for all 2SLGBTQIA+ people to come together to discuss death\, dying and grief. It is a facilitated drop-in discussion space\, with the purpose of building connection\, skill\, and resources for 2SLGBTQIA+ people navigating end of life in our personal lives and in our communities. \n\n\n\nIn times of grief\, many people find that a connection to land\, earth\, and the tending of life can help carry us through. It is well established that a connection to nature\, no matter how small\, helps improve our experiences of depression\, anxiety\, and sense of well-being. \n\n\n\nPulling from their their personal experiences\, Eli will lead participants in a discussion about; \n\n\n\n\nthe history of Grief Gardening through various cultural perspectives\n\n\n\ngardening as a tool for emotional processing and providing a sense of control and purpose\n\n\n\ncreating sites for remembrance\n\n\n\ntending to a relationship with nature to encourage a sense of hope and renewal\n\n\n\n\nHe will also support participants with ideas about how to get started or expand on our grief gardens. \n\n\n\nEli (they/he) is a gardener and former landscaper\, wetlands restorationist and wildlife biologist currently living on Ohlone land in Oakland. Mutual aid\, covid realism\, disability justice\, queerness and art as well as gardening all help them with the little and big sources of grief that life brings us.

SUMMARY:In Harmony Choir Rehearsal
DESCRIPTION:We are a non-audition choir! Members are required to be able to carry a tune and to sing in a treble vocal range (Soprano or Alto). We are a performance-focused choir; we expect singers to participate in at least one annual concert; members may also perform at extra performances/gigs throughout the season. \n\n\n\nOur rehearsals take place each Tuesday evenings; our main rehearsal time is 7:00 – 8:30pm.
