SUMMARY:Transform Gender Collective (TGC) Monthly Meetings
DESCRIPTION:Transform Gender Collective (TGC) is a support and discussion group for transmasculine and masculine-of-center Black\, indigenous\, and people of color (BIPOC) to learn about transformative justice\, unlearn toxic gendered behaviors\, and imagine what masculinity could look like outside of the gender binary. \n\n\n\nDuring our virtual meetings\, we will dive deep into the framework of transformative justice (TJ) and how we can apply it to our everyday lives\, create a community of support for one another\, and share our personal stories of coming into our genders. Our ultimate goal is to move the group towards a closed community accountability space where we can practice robust transformative justice as we heal and grow in our masculinities together. \n\n\n\nTGC is open to any Black\, Indigenous\, and/or person of color (BIPOC) who identifies as transmasculine or masculine-of-center\, regardless of gender identity. \n\n\n\nWe ask that white-passing BIPOC reflect on their privilege and the way they are racialized. At TGC\, we discuss our gendered experiences as people that are racialized as Black or brown in the world. Please choose whether to attend our meetings based on these reflections. \n\n\n\nOur virtual monthly meetings are held over Zoom and take place on the last Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8PM EST. SUMMARY:Ask a Trans Person Anything
DESCRIPTION:Join two of Canada’s leading trans activists for a no-questions-off-limits Q&A on all trans topics. \n\n\n\nYou probably have a lot of unanswered questions about trans people and issues.. Maybe you’re worried about what’s being taught in the classroom\, or about what healthcare services are being offered to trans youth. You’ve heard terms like “parental rights” thrown around. You haven’t felt able to ask your questions and get answers that make sense to you. \n\n\n\nWe get it\, we understand. But what’s the other side of the story? \n\n\n\nThrough conversation we can find common ground – we have more in common than we think. Let’s remove the politics and hot takes and connect as people. \n\n\n\nWe want to hear your worries and share our side of the story. That’s why Fae Johnstone and Victoria Bucholtz\, two of Canada’s most prominent trans activists\, are coming to town to answer all your gender questions. \n\n\n\nThis is your chance to get your questions answered – yes\, even the tough ones. No judgement\, no name calling. Instead\, we’ll give you our honest takes — and we think they’ll win you over. \n\n\n\nJoin us for an event filled with candid conversation. Hear from Victoria and Fae as they make the case for trans rights\, and then dive into an interactive Question and Answer period where nothing* is off limits. \n\n\n\n*Okay\, there are exceptions – threats and personal attacks aren’t welcome. \n\n\n\nThis event is brought to you by Queer Momentum\, TransAction Alberta and Fierte Canada Pride\, alongside Ottawa Capital Pride.
