Prepping for winter! \n\n\n\nA Hub for GBTQ+ Newcomers \n\n\n\nMoving to a new country can be exciting\, but also challenging – even more so for queer men\, non-binary folks and trans people. \n\n\n\nIt is a social and educational group for GBTQ+ newcomers. Queerspora hopes to provide some ease to GBTQ newcomers during their journey of trying to find their way in a new home and building trust and connections. The group also aims to equip newcomers with sexual health toolkits and knowledge that they can use in their everyday lives in Canada. \n\n\n\nTopics discussed include sexual health and wellness\, navigating hookup apps & cruising spaces. Activities will include visits to museums\, parks\, and more. Queerspora is an opportunity to get to know the city and familiarize yourself with the local queer scene and resources.

DESCRIPTION:Every month at Art House\, a new artist fills the walls of the Drawing Room with their best works for you to enjoy. This month is featuring Not The Death I Was Expecting by Toni van Eeden {PARTYGIRL}. Come meet them\, explore their works\, and learn about their history and inspiration while sipping on complimentary wine. \n\n\n\nARTIST BIO \n\n\n\nPARTYGIRL (Toni van Eeden) is a multi-disciplinary artist exploring themes of the hidden self\, grief\, and the sensory body. While art has always played an integral role in their work\, it wasn’t until 2019 when a devastating and progressive autoimmune condition began to effect their mobility\, cognitive functioning\, and lucidity\, that they would begin to make art as an imperative. To retrieve the messages left on their nervous system and translate them into sensory poetry through various mediums. Their shows and exhibitions are intentionally designed as containers for retrieving hidden messages\, collective grieving\, and the aftercare required to go a little deeper. \n\n\n\nThis visual art exhibition and the companion zine (available through Art House during the vernissage on November 14 7-10pm) both titled “Not The Death I Was Expecting” is the story of their drowning and how it saved their life. This exhibition represents volumes I-III of the story which will continue to unfold through a series of zines over the course of the next ten years.

DESCRIPTION:Ottawa Frontrunners (OFR) is a running and walking club for members of the Two-Spirit\, Lesbian\, Gay\, Bisexual\, Transgender\, and Queer (2SLGBTQ) community and friends. Located in Ottawa\, it is Canada’s national capital chapter of International Frontrunners. We have runners of various ages and skill levels and typically have groups going between 5 and 9 km (3 and 5.59 miles) at various paces. Walkers are also members of the club\, consisting usually of runners on the injury list and partners or friends of runners.

With “sinuous\, bouncy guitars…and choruses that have the potential to metamorphose into earworms” (FME)\, knitting makes guitar driven and lyrically introspective indie rock evoking the nostalgia of 90s alternative rock bands like Pavement\, Pixies and Sonic Youth. Nestled among entwined guitars\, rousing basslines\, and explosive drums\, Dempsey’s subtle vocals recount bizarre crushes\, bad habits\, and summertime melancholy. knitting’s songs are earnest and raw\, giving reflexive queer/trans representation that diversifies the scope of narratives historically given space in indie rock music. \n\n\n\nPith – A freak folk fixture of the Ottawa-Montreal-Toronto corridor for over 10 years. With a 4th LP on the way Pith has honed their sound into psych-tinged queer cosmic country\, anchored by the effects-drenched nylon string of histrionic front-they Chrissy and backed by scene veterans Sarah Bartlett (Lake Urmia\, From Them) and Cole Emberley (Deathsticks). A little medieval\, slightly punk\, largely cathartic\, occasionally silly \n\n\n\nGirl with dream – Songs to make or break your heartNick Bendsza – Dark\, sensitive\, direct\, spiritual and tender; Bendzsa blends trap\, acoustic folk\, ambient\, and indie to texture and paint an exaggerated world of genuine experience and fantasy. Raised in Newfoundland\, the producer\, songwriter and audio engineer currently lives in Montreal. Bendzsa’s emotionally blunt yet subtly humorous lyrics are delivered by his distinctive voice; sometimes tortured\, sometimes sweet\, always deep\, strong and expressive.
