SUMMARY:Gay Bar 1969
DESCRIPTION:Gay Bar is back— here’s what you can expect \n\n\n\nCome raise a glass and celebrate the launch of our latest resource\, The Handy Guide to DoxyPEP at Gay Bar 1969. Think of it as a smutty cocktail hour before the dance party. There’ll be a stocked bar\, 60’s homoerotica on the screens\, and an auction on the original artwork created for the guide by renowned artist Dennis Moran.  \n\n\n\nWhy 1969? Beyond the Stonewall Riots\, 1969 was the first year doxycycline (the “doxy” in doxyPEP) was marketed in Canada. Leaning on the theme of pleasure as a driver for action\, our new guide shows that using doxyPEP can be an act of personal and sexual empowerment\, giving you a tool to make informed decisions about your sexual health. \n\n\n\nThe guide features original illustrations by local artist Dennis Moran\, currently working as a Senior Effects Animator on X-Men ‘97. Throughout the night\, we’ll be auctioning off the original pen-and-ink versions of the artwork. Along with ticket and merch sales\, these funds will support our programs\, services\, and resource development\, helping us better serve our community. \n\n\n\n\nDate: Thursday\, November 19\n\n\n\nTime: 7:00-9:30\n\n\n\nLocation: GRIDWRKS\, 221 Rideau St\, Ottawa\n\n\n\n\nPurchase your $15 ticket below. If cost is an issue\, please use our free discount code DOXYMYPEP. \n\n\n\nStick around after the event as Concept Thursdays takes over to keep the party going until 2:00am. \n\n\n\nGet Tickets\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Handy Guide will be available in both printed and digital versions. If you’re a healthcare worker\, service provider\, or community member and would like to receive print versions of the guide\, please reach out to info@maxottawa.ca. \n\n\n\nAbout the Artist\n\n\n\nDennis Moran is a fantasy artist living in Ottawa\, Ontario. He writes and draws the ongoing fantasy-adventure comic\, The Skyward Isles\, which is being developed into a new and exciting Tabletop RPG. He is currently a Senior Effects Animator on X-Men ‘97 (Disney\, Jam Filled Entertainment)\, and was recently Effects Designer on Scavengers Reign (Titmouse). Learn more about Dennis’ work here. \n\n\n\nAccessibility\n\n\n\n\nGRIDWRKS is wheelchair accessible\, with our event taking place on the main floor\n\n\n\nIf you’re using public transportation\, take the O-Train Line 1 (Confederation Line) to Rideau Station or the 10\, 12\, 19\, 39\, and 85 buses\n\n\n\nNon-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase\n\n\n\nPhotographers and videographers will be present at the event.
