DESCRIPTION:First Crush and Side By Side Weekend present…\n\n\n\nTVOD (Brooklyn\, NY) \n\n\n\nBrooklyn-based rockers TVOD stand out with emotional\, sometimes juvenile lyrics\, paired with driving\, catchy songs that never fail to get a crowd moving/moshing. Influenced by post-punk\, egg punk and krautrock\, TVOD effortlessly weave musical genres in a way that comes off seamlessly. “More than anything\, their sound is engineered to make you move” (Creem Magazine). The brainchild of singer-songwriter Tyler Wright\, the project draws from personal and external inspirations like the nightlife/music scene\, heartaches\, World War II\, the untimely death of a beloved pet fish\, and so on. TVOD’s vivid storytelling paints a gritty tongue-in-cheek picture of being a D.I.Y. artist grinding it out in NYC\, complete with fabled tales about the degenerate lifestyle and all the good and the bad that comes with it. \n\n\n\nCDSM (Atlanta\, GA) \n\n\n\nCSDM a.k.a. Celebrity Death Slot Machine is a “freakout post-punk group” (FLOOD Magazine) based in Atlanta\, GA. Their stylish sonic onslaught is anchored around dancey rhythms\, atypical synthesizer work\, timely saxophone growls\, as well as goth rock-esque melodies that serve to recount bizarre humor-laden tales from a derelict parallel universe. The death disco purveyors – featuring past and current members from Material Girls\, Neighbor Lady\, Mothers and Rose Hotel – are to unearth their debut full-length album entitled Convertible Hearse on May 23rd\, 2025 via Mothland & EXAG’ Records. \n\n\n\nKAY-fayb (Gatineau\, Quebec) \n\n\n\nKAY-fayb is sound art trio Yolande Laroche\, Pierre-Luc Clément and Linsey Wellman – exploring while engaging with the performative limits and/or/without potential of orchestral dissonance\, deceptiveness\, technologies\, mantras and evasive concepts such as obsessions and make beliefs through structured improvised performances.  \n\n\n\nEvent Information \n\n\n\nJuly 6th\, 2025 \n\n\n\nHouse of Targ – 1077 Bank Street\, Ottawa ON  \n\n\n\nDoors at 8:00pm | 19+   \n\n\n\n$20 advance / $25 at the door  \n\n\n\nFirst Crush Safer Spaces Policy\n\n\n\nAttendees\, artists and staff are expected to respect one another and the space. Compete in the 2025 Ottawa Air Guitar Championships to win your way to the Canadian Air Guitar Championships in Toronto\, and potentially compete at the Air Guitar World Championships in Oulu\, Finland\, all while raising money for the Gord Downey & Chanie Wenjack Fund! You can sign up in advance to compete by providing your own 60-second track\, or come up out of the audience as one of our Brave Souls. Air guitar glory could be yours! Too shy for the stage? Not to worry – you’ll be blown away by how fun imaginary instruments can be!  \n\n\n\nThe event is 19+ and unfortunately\, the venue is accessible as Targ is in a basement with a steep staircase with bathrooms too small to accommodate most wheelchairs. Masks are encouraged but not required\, and the event will feature loud noises and possible flashing lights akin to a rock show. \n\n\n\nAGC is a queer and trans-run organization that looks to give back to our communities through the power of music and joy. We actively work to make our events trans- and 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusive and as safe a space as we can. This includes actively looking to ensure that femmes\, non-binary people\, gender-non-conforming people\, and a wide array of weirdos and queerdos feel safe and seen enjoying music they love and connecting with community while we raise money for a great cause.
