SUMMARY:Mindful Drones Single Release Show
DESCRIPTION:7:00pm Doors \ 7:30pm Show \n\n\n\nMindful Drones:Since forming in the spring of 2024\, Mindful Drones have rapidly built a loyal following in Ottawa. Their unique sound is a Frankenstein’s monster of genres\, blended into a new and refreshing palate. They bring deep craftsmanship to themes of love (and love lost)\, addiction\, and race\, with rich harmonies and unexpected musical directions. Mindful Drones are committed to artistic communities\, with shows often including with guest musicians and visual artists. \n\n\n\nSangitha:Sangitha is an Indo-Canadian indie-folk and soul artist blending folk\, Indian classical\, and soul influences into intimate\, emotionally resonant music. Through honest storytelling and evocative songwriting\, she explores themes of identity\, vulnerability\, and belonging\, creating songs that connect across cultures and experiences. \n\n\n\nAfraid of Jazz:Afraid of Jazz assembled itself piecemeal over the course of a few years\, driven by a shared love of choogling and a deep fear of augmented chords. When not practicing in their drummer’s rabbit’s home\, they can be found in various city tunnels creating a unique blend of synthetic folk-trash.

SUMMARY:NBR: SHAKESPEARE!
DESCRIPTION:They get naked. They read. A different theme every month from Ottawa’s trailblazing literary salon — since July 2017. \n\n\n\nJoin us for an exploration through William Shakespeare’s works. From tragedy to comedy\, love sonnets to fiery declarations of revenge\, Shakespeare’s works have touched audiences for nearly 450 years. \n\n\n\nYou’ll hear familiar favourites but also some untouched gems. We’ll explore ancient sensibilities and modern perspectives — maybe even a few hot takes by an actor who’s a legend in their own right. \n\n\n\nHear Shakespeare as ’twas meant to be heard: Live\, in person …and by naked guys.

SUMMARY:Naked Boys Reading: "Community and Belonging"
DESCRIPTION:They get naked. They read. A different theme every month from Ottawa’s trailblazing literary salon — since July 2017. \n\n\n\nNBR is a queer-produced community show that’s open to everyone. We celebrate all genders and sexualities. This is not erotic “adult entertainment” — which we’re cool with — but that’s not this. \n\n\n\nThis month\, we’re looking at communities: how do we find them\, their advantages and disadvantages\, and what happens when someone tries to dismantle them. \n\n\n\nDoors will open at 7:00 p.m. The show will begin at 8:00 p.m. sharp. Seating is first-come\, first-served: if you’re attending as a party of three or more people\, it is best to arrive early to find seating together. \n\n\n\nWe regret that the venue is inaccessible to some people. It is on the second floor of the building and accessible only via stairs. Non-gendered washrooms are available.

SUMMARY:Naked Boys Reading
DESCRIPTION:THE PRIDE FLAG\, sewn by Gilbert Baker in 1978\, originally had 8 stripes\, each with a meaning: sex\, life\, healing\, sunlight\, nature\, magic\, serenity\, and spirit. It was inspired by Judy Garland’s song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” \n\n\n\nOur August show\, which is also our annual pride show\, will feature readings from the 2SLGBTQ+ community and the history of the queer rights movement\, both fictional and nonfiction. \n\n\n\n★ ★ ★ ★ ★ \n\n\n\nNaked Boys Reading is an internationally produced literary salon featuring unclothed men reading to you: a blissful combination of literature\, book nerds\, and\, of course\, nudity! \n\n\n\nThis show is for all genders and sexualities. It is not erotic “adult entertainment” — which we’re cool with — but that’s not this. \n\n\n\n★ ★ ★ ★ ★ \n\n\n\nTHIS SHOW… \n\n\n\n\nCurated by Andrew Cooper\n\n\n\nHosted by ★ RHAPSODY BLUE ★\n\n\n\nPhotography by Zac Emery\n\n\n\nCo-produced by Nicholas Surges\n\n\n\nPresented by Tricky Ricky Productions\n\n\n\n\n★ ★ ★ ★ ★ \n\n\n\nDoors will open at 7:00 pm. Seating is first come\, first served: The sooner you arrive\, the better the view you’ll have. \n\n\n\nIf you’re attending as a party of three or more people\, it is best to arrive early — by 7:30 pm — to find seating together. \n\n\n\n★ ★ ★ ★ ★ \n\n\n\nNBR shows often sell out in advance\, so we strongly recommend advance ticket purchase\, without delay\, to avoid disappointment. \n\n\n\nThe advance ticket price is $24 per ticket. If you’re unable to pay online\, or if the ticket price is a financial barrier for you\, please contact us: ottawa@nakedboysreading.ca \n\n\n\nTickets are refundable up to five (5) days before the show\, but please note that service/processing fees (charged by Eventbrite\, the ticketing platform) are non-refundable. Each ticket is also transferable — which means you can gift or sell it to somebody else. \n\n\n\n★ ★ ★ ★ ★ \n\n\n\nWe are committed to body positivity and diverse representation. The line-up of readers for each show is usually a mix of new and returning readers. We strive to reflect the diversity of our communities at every show. Our success is partially dependent upon the availability of readers. \n\n\n\nWe regret that the venue is inaccessible to some people. It is on the second floor of the building and accessible only via stairs. Non-gendered washrooms are available. \n\n\n\nWe acknowledge that we operate on the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabeg people.
