SUMMARY:Afternoon Tea Dance
DESCRIPTION:We’re kicking off Pride month with an afternoon party at @TheGrove featuring @djdelpilar! Expect high-energy dance tracks and all your fave queers! \n\n\n\nTea dances were events organized on Sunday afternoons in the US gay community\, originating in New York in the 1950s and 1960s. The original dances included tea services rather than alcohol as it was illegal to serve alcohol to queer and trans people. To lower the chances of a police raid\, these dances were held on Sunday afternoons and served non-alcoholic drinks. \n\n\n\nGet fancy and dance with cuties! Tea dances were one of the only places where people could express themselves\, so we fully encourage outfits! \n\n\n\nHighlights \n\n\n\n\nThis event centers people who are queer and/or trans who take covid precautions in their everyday lives. Allies who take covid precautions are also welcome but please be mindful that this is primarily a space for queer and/or trans folks. We also welcome 2SLGBTQIA+ folks who are interested in a sober-friendly space and who will respect the covid-safer protocols of this event!\n\n\n\nMask mandatory event (KN95 or better).
