We’ll provide some classic board games – feel free to bring your own! \n\n\n\nCanteen with non-alcoholic drinks\, inc beer\, cocktails\, & seltzers. \n\n\n\nThis is a covid-safer event: \n\n\n\n❤️ N95 or equivalent are required. Some free masks (overhead straps) will be available at the door.❤️ We monitor CO2 throughout the night and will announce if the monitors reach 1000.❤️ The new Grove space is much bigger than the last one\, with 2 small windows that open\, a central HVAC system\, and high ceilings. We will have at least 3 air purifiers running at max at all times.❤️ 18 Louisa St. does not have easy access to the outside\, so we ask you to enjoy beverages in the hall outside the main space. \n\n\n\nSliding scale tickets start at $5 – limited capacity for this event. \n\n\n\nNew Space Info:💫 18 Louisa\, unit 280\, is on the 2nd floor and is accessed by the elevator or stairs.💫 The exterior doors are automatic\, and the door to the studio is manual. If the exterior door is locked\, buzz 2800 to enter.💫 There are accessible washrooms on the same floor. The (gendered) washrooms are shared with the whole floor but after hours it’s unlikely anyone else will be on site.💫 The studio is over 800 square feet of open space with an 11 ft ceiling and 2 small windows that open.

This session is perfect for beginners and experienced creatives alike\, offering hands-on exploration of one of the earliest photographic printing techniques. \n\n\n\nIn addition to the traditional cyanotype process\, this class will introduce special tea toning technique: \n\n\n\n\nPrint Bleaching with washing soda\n\n\n\nToning with different types of tea for varied hues\n\n\n\nFloral-themed compositions using photo negatives\, pressed flowers\, and stencils\n\n\n\n\nSchedule:6:00 pm – 6:15pm Arriving and Settling in6:15 pm – 6:30pm Introduction and Presentation6:30pm – 8:30pm Hands on Learning8:30pm – 9:00pm Extra-time to finish projects \n\n\n\nBonus Community Art Project: \n\n\n\nEach participant will also create a mini 2×2 cyanotype piece\, which will NOT be a take-home item. The process is environmentally safe\, but we will take precautions: \n\n\n\n\nAvoid direct skin contact with the solution; wash with soap and water if needed.\n\n\n\nWashing soda (used for bleaching) should be handled carefully to avoid skin irritation.\n\n\n\nToning solutions (various teas) are non-toxic and safe to use.\n\n\n\nGloves and handling tools (tongs/clippers) will be available for added safety.\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\n\n\n\nDo I need to prepare anything before the workshop?No preparation is required! Her maternal grandfather is a residential school survivor from Neyaashiinigmiing\, a reserve within what is currently known as Bruce County\, Ontario. \n\n\n\nKaytlyn began beading in 2018 as part of her healing journey. One of her best friends taught her the basics of flat-stitch beadwork. and from there she fell in love with the art & its meditative nature\, and healing energy. Sign up for this 101 course for an introduction to DJing with DJ del Pilar! \n\n\n\nThis session runs from 1:30-2:45 AND the live stream demo from 2:45-4:00 \n\n\n\nWhat to expect? \n\n\n\nThis is a hands-off course for those with no experience to familiarize themselves with definitions\, gear and where to find music. You’ll be encouraged to think about what you want to get out of DJing and how that might shape what you need to learn. You’ll also meet others who are interested in DJing! \n\n\n\nTakeaways \n\n\n\nYou’ll go home with some resources for learning more about DJing including sites where you can learn to beat match using your computer and buy music. SUMMARY:Mindfulness Toolkit for the Holidays
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, we will design our very own Mindfulness Toolkit by drawing awareness to some or all of our five senses. You will be guided through grounding meditations and arts-based activities to prepare for the holidays.  \n\n\n\nHoliday time can be fun and meaningful. At the same time\, it can generate anxieties and feelings of overwhelm. Sometimes old wounds can be triggered as well. This workshop is for folks who might feel a little anxious about seeing family and relatives\, who are worried about isolation and loneliness\, and those who can get overwhelmed by the hecticness and pressure that comes with the season.  \n\n\n\nTogether\, we will breathe through feelings that come up in the present moment and equip ourselves with a set of resources that is specific to our own needs and preferences for safety and comfort. The Mindfulness Toolkit will anchor ourselves as we ride the waves of emotions in challenging or uncomfortable situations. It can be used during the holiday time and beyond. Prompts and materials will be provided to help design your own kit. \n\n\n\nPlease note that the facilitator is not a mental health professional. The workshop is focused on bringing awareness to our existing resources using mindfulness and arts-based activities\, and it will be facilitated in a peer approach. We will not be discussing any details of trauma or mental health triggers.  \n\n\n\nAll are welcome. Queer and trans folks to the front. POC to the front.This is an experiential workshop. Please dress comfortably. Meditation exercises will be short (no more than 5 minutes each). No experience of mindfulness or meditation (or art) required.  \n\n\n\nAbout the facilitator Alvis: \n\n\n\nAlvis (they/them) is a retired artist who identifies as queer\, trans masculine\, and non-binary. Their experience with mindfulness began with a meditation app and the teachings of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. Their mindfulness practice is guided by the S.N. Goenka Vipassana meditation technique and the Plum Village sangha tradition. Alvis’ goal for this workshop is to create space for folks to pause and plan ahead of what could be a difficult time.
