Afternoon Tea Dance
August 3 @ 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
We’re kicking off Pride month with an afternoon party at @TheGrove featuring @djdelpilar! Expect high-energy dance tracks and all your fave queers!
Tea dances were events organized on Sunday afternoons in the US gay community, originating in New York in the 1950s and 1960s. The original dances included tea services rather than alcohol as it was illegal to serve alcohol to queer and trans people. To lower the chances of a police raid, these dances were held on Sunday afternoons and served non-alcoholic drinks.
Get fancy and dance with cuties! Tea dances were one of the only places where people could express themselves, so we fully encourage outfits!
