Pass the Vibes was founded in 2019 by a group of friends in Ottawa who identified the need for inclusive and accessible knowledge-sharing spaces for Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (QTBIPOC), especially for skills such as DJing that are often taught in very male and white-dominated environments. Our collective has since evolved into a safe and playful space of belonging, experimentation and healing for Black and Black Queer youth (aged 18-30) in Ottawa, offering resources, hangout spaces, connection and knowledge sharing opportunities. Pass the Vibes’ vision is to create experimental, non-judgmental and Queer/Trans-safe spaces of belonging for Black youth to witness themselves and each other in creative expression.
We’d like to extend a big thank you to our funders, Ontario Triullium Foundation, for making these events possible! and thank you to our organizational mentor, DARC – the Digital Arts Resource Centre for their ongoing support.
