Tens, Tens, Tens across the boards!

From old way to new way, Inside Out and MAX Ottawa are coming together for our second installment of our film screening series, and this time, the theme is ballroom!

Join us at ByTowne Cinema for a selection of short films we’re calling I Wanna Dance with Somebody. These shorts honor the importance of community and creating spaces where we can be our authentic selves.

Programming:

• Realness with a Twist: A talented footballer suppresses his secret passion for voguing for fear of his teammates’ disapproval.
• MnM: An exuberant portrait of chosen sisters Mermaid and Milan, two emerging runway divas in the drag ballroom community.
• The House of LaBeija: A poetic documentary that pays homage to the first ballroom house, the House of LaBeija, through a series of letters from its members.
• Haus: A displaced black queer boy finds refuge in his city’s underground Kiki Ballroom scene.
• Unless We Dance: In Quibdó, a city with the highest homicide rates in Colombia, Jonathan and hundreds of young people come together through dance to face the brutal fate of violence.
• The Tweetations Revue: A charismatic cast of songbirds take flight on a musical journey through a vibrant variety show, creating a fantastical celebration of cultural heritage and artistic brilliance.

Following the screening, we’ll have a panel discussion with prominent figures in the Canadian ballroom scene.
