Lesbian History of Ottawa Walking Tour

Join drag king Morgan Mercury on a 2-hour walking tour exploring Ottawa’s lesbian history!

What you’ll learn:

  • History of lesbian activism in Ottawa (1970s-1990s)
  • Key figures in Ottawa’s lesbian history (Charlotte Whitton, Elaina Martin)
  • Stories of lesbian nightlife and community spaces (1970s-2000s)

Where you’ll go:

  • 4km of walking along downtown Ottawa streets (Colonel By Dr, Elgin St)
  • Locations of protest and connection (historical nightlife, commmunity resources)

What you’ll need:

  • Weather appropriate walking clothing (tour will go rain or shine – but may be cancelled in the event of a significant storm, extreme heat/cold, or bad air quality)
  • Water, snacks, and anything else that will help support your energy for the two hours together
  • Willingness to share, learn and connect with the tour group
