Rainbow Conceptions

Event Series (See All)

June 18 @ 7:30 pm 8:30 pm

A featured production in Ottawa Fringe

A true-ish story of Greer, a Queer wobbling along the STRAIGHT path to parenthood. With Fab, a witchy best friend, Billie the emotional support bear and sassy sperm donor Steve, Greer’s quest serves laughs, tears and the warm fuzzies. This merry band of queerdos deal with fertility doctors, legal contracts and negative pregnancy tests. Will Greer’s dreams of a rainbow conception come true?

Ever wonder how are GAYbies are made? Rainbow Conceptions telling the tender story of 2SLGBTQIA++ parenthood through the story of Greer, a Queer person whose deepest desire is to have a GAYby of their very own.

Greer’s bestie Fab is doing her part to conjure pregnancy by casting spells, and overstepping boundaries while Steve, Greer’s EXTRA fabulous sperm donor refuses to reign in his clap fan realness in the face of lawyers and nosey neighbours. Greer’s ride-or-die family of queerdos bring the love of 1000 Pride Parades and endless salty clap-backs at the political and social barriers to 2SLGBTQIA++ parenthood.
Speaking of ride or die, ever wondered what it’s like to self-inseminate in the back of a moving car?

Inspired by real-life stories, Rainbow Conceptions opens a carefully guarded and tender part of Queer life by honouring the joy, absurdity, heartache, and love it takes to become a 2SLGBTQIA++ parent.
Does family come in every colour of the rainbow? Come see the show and find out!
