Barley Burns (they/she/he) is an Ottawa born artist, entrepreneur and journalist. They are the owner of Fairy Cowboy Tours, a drag-artist led walking tour company focused on sharing the queer history of Ottawa. Barley performs across the country as a theatre and drag artist, known for their drag king persona Morgan Mercury. They have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs and Policy Management, Development Policy from Carleton University, and are completing a Bachelor of Journalism at the University of King’s College in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Kiran Niet is an artist who can’t pick a medium, an event host, a zinester, and an accidental academic. Above all, he is fascinated with community-building and storytelling, whether through research, art, or organizing. As a volunteer at the Ottawa Trans Library, he curates events centering queer and trans community. In his free time, Kiran recklessly consumes unhealthy amounts of queer theory and sings in a choir. He can often be found tabling at art markets with his friends. He is about to graduate from Carleton University with a Bachelor’s degree in Global and International Studies, specializing in Communications.
Thank you Canada Council for the Arts for supporting this important Trans Community Initiative.
“Tea for Tara” is a monthly storytelling program for the Trans, and Non-binary community to share, and witness Trans Stories and history all archived for future generations, including networking and mentorship.
