Community Gathering: Building the Ottawa We Dream Of

An afternoon of art, joy, connection & civic imagination
This summer, through our Picnics for Living Futures series, we gathered across three creative picnics to explore play, storytelling, collective care, and civic possibility.
Along the way, we made art, shared stories, built connections, and imagined new possibilities for the future of our city.
Now, we’re bringing the series to a close and creating space for what comes next with Building the Ottawa We Dream Of on September 26.
Join us for an afternoon of art, conversation, connection, and civic imagination as we celebrate what we’ve made and imagined together, reflect on what we’ve discovered along the way, and continue exploring the Ottawa we want to build.
What to expect
Throughout the afternoon, you’ll have opportunities to:
🎨 Experience community-created art and creative works from the Picnics for Living Futures series
💬 Connect and share ideas with community members, artists, organizers, and local organizations
🌱 Reflect on collective experiences from the summer and the possibilities they opened up
✨ Imagine new futures for Ottawa through creative and participatory activities
🤝 Discover local organizations and initiatives working toward more connected, caring, and imaginative communities
Whether you joined us for one of the picnics, participated throughout the summer, or are discovering Picnics for Living Futures for the first time, you’re warmly invited to join us.
This is a free community gathering, and everyone is welcome.
