Queer Death Salon
April 8 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Queer Death Salon is a community space for all 2SLGBTQIA+ people to come together to discuss death, dying and grief. It is a facilitated drop-in discussion space on zoom, with the purpose of building connection, skill, and resources for 2SLGBTQIA+ people navigating end of life in our personal lives and in our communities.
In April, our discussion topic is Loss by Suicide.
Loss by suicide can kick up a plethora of feelings in addition to the grief one would normally experience with the death of a loved one. It’s not uncommon to feel anger, guilt, confusion, or feelings of rejection (among many other possibilities). This session is for 2SLGBTQIA+ people who have lost people to suicide and are looking to share space with people who have lived through similar circumstances.
Questions to consider
- Who have you lost and what was your relationship to each other?
- How does this kind of grief differ from other griefs you have experienced?
- What were your feelings towards them at their death? How has that changed over time?
- What do you wish was better understood about your experience?
Participants are invited to bring questions of their own, a special item to show, or share a story of an important moment.
