Community Call: Apply to be a Tea2Go Delivery Volunteer

June 4, 2025

MAX Ottawa has been working to improve the health and wellbeing of queer and trans individuals in the National Capital Region for over 20 years. As a community-based organization with a history in the HIV response, MAX is on the ground, meeting community members where they’re at, and offering social and support services, information, and referrals that meet their needs. MAX also works with healthcare and other service providers to improve the quality of care available in the region.

Our services include harm reduction supplies, care kits, wellness resources, and peer support – and sometimes, the best way to get folks what they need is to bring it right to them. That’s where this role comes in.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Tea2Go Delivery Volunteer, you’ll help ensure that MAX community members get timely access to essential items – including harm reduction supplies and wellness kits. You’ll carry out local deliveries across the city, playing a key role in removing barriers and ensuring access to safer, affirming care and resources. You’ll be supported by MAX staff every step of the way.

ABOUT YOU

You’re someone who’s reliable, organized, and community-driven. You understand the importance of discretion and respect when delivering supplies to people’s homes. You’re comfortable navigating Ottawa, whether by car, bike, walking, or transit, and you’re committed to creating safer, more accessible pathways to care for queer and trans people. You’re comfortable working independently but open to collaboration and communication with staff. You can commit to light, flexible shifts each month for a minimum of three months.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete local deliveries of MAX outreach materials, kits, and resources to service users or partner organizations
  • Coordinate with MAX staff to schedule deliveries and confirm logistics
  • Handle materials with care and maintain client confidentiality at all times
  • Maintain respectful and affirming communication with all community members
  • Report back on deliveries and flag any issues, delays, or feedback
  • Build and maintain solid working and supportive relationships with service users, external agencies, staff, and other volunteers.

In addition to following all MAX policies and procedures, the Tea2Go Delivery Volunteer is expected to behave ethically, demonstrate good communication, work collaboratively, and show good judgment while representing MAX in the community.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

In this role, you can also expect to receive:

  • Orientation and ongoing support from the MAX team
  • Training on health topics, community care, and MAX’s programs and mission
  • Opportunities to grow outreach, logistics, and community service skills
  • A meaningful way to support harm reduction and community health efforts

NOTE: You do not need your own vehicle to apply. We welcome delivery volunteers who bike, walk, drive, or take transit. Any mileage or transit costs related to delivery will be reimbursed.
