MAX Annual Report 2023–2024
August 20, 2025
The past two years have been focused on growth, change, and renewed connection for MAX Ottawa.
Our 2023–2024 Annual Report highlights a period of rebuilding programs, strengthening our team, and showing up for gay, bisexual, and queer men and trans and non-binary people across Ottawa. From relaunching staple support groups like Queerspora and Now What?, to expanding our harm reduction program Tea2Go, to leading urgent responses on mpox, to expanding our training for healthcare providers on gender affirming care, we’re proud to say we’ve grown our presence to record heights.
Throughout 2023 and 2024, we:
- Connected with thousands of community members through outreach
- Distributed thousands of safer sex and safer drug use supplies
- Expanded our work on gender affirming care, including the addition of HRT supplies to our inventory, training healthcare providers to take on trans clients, and the creation of a Gender Affirming Care Toolkit.
- Grew community programs like Keeping It 100 and launched creative, peer-led initiatives through the MAXimizer Project.
- Reached record numbers at Pride and across Ottawa with resources, education, and support.
Behind the scenes, we also invested in organizational stability—updating governance, policies, and infrastructure to make sure MAX is ready for the future.
As we look ahead with our new strategic plan, this report reflects the resilience, creativity, and care of our staff, volunteers, Board, and community members.
